Hello everyone! My name is Andrea Walker, Assistant Cheerleading Coach for Newington High School for the 2014-2015 season! I am extremely delighted to have the opportunity to work with all of you this year! As your new coaches, in a new season, with a new positive outlook I expect a brand new outcome full of amazing memories! I have cheered since my youth years and continued on to cheer for Central Connecticut State University. I have many seasons of coaching experience, from 5 years of Pop Warner Cheerleading, taking a team all the way to Nationals, to 5 years for Naugatuck's middle school cheer programs. I now look forward to sharing all I can with you as my first high school team. Having a passion for something can drive you to be all that you believe you can! Never give up, always reach for the stars!
Alexandra Mendez

I would like to introduce myself as Alexandra Mendez, Newington High School's 2014-2015 Head Cheerleading Coach. I am very excited for the upcoming season and to meet each and every one of you. I was a cheerleader for UCONN, leading my team to a NCAA National Championship victory, Big East tournament Championship victory, and Big East Football Bowl Championship game. Prior to my time at UCONN, I was awarded the First Team NJ All-State Cheerleader, UCA All-Star Cheerleader, and competed in UCA Nationals as a top 5 recipient for four consecutive years. I am also a full time teacher at Newington High School, having received my Masters in Science from UCONN in Educational Psychology, and my Bachelors of Arts from UCONN in Education with a specialization in Mathematics and Special Education.
